Job Summary


Established in 1971, we are one of the first companies of its kind in the Colorado region. We are a firm that specializes in the sawing and drilling of concrete and asphalt. Working on projects from slab sawing of highways to coring in residential homes. We have continued to be a leader in the industry for over 47 years. BASIC FUNCTION


The basic function of the Shop Manager is to supervise, train, manage and direct Shop and Shop Operations.


The Shop Manager is the key person to maintain vehicle and equipment repairs and maintenance.


The Shop Manager also manages, maintains and inventory's shop items such as parts, supplies, fuel and blades.


 


REQUIREMENTS


Education:


A High School degree or equivalent


Experience:


A minimum of two years experience in the mechanical and shop field is required, preferably with experience in all phases of cutting and coring.


Skill, Knowledge and Abilities:


Knowledge of basic mechanics for maintenance of equipment and vehicles


Ability to troubleshoot and repair basic mechanical problems pertaining to both equipment and vehicles.


Ability to manage employees, equipment, vehicles, shop supplies and shop area.


Ability to work with suppliers and co-employees.


Physical:


Ability to perform mechanical operations such as troubleshooting, repairs to equipment and vehicles, truck inspections, etc. This physically entails standing, bending, crawling, leaning, etc.


Sufficient vision to read business documents such as safety reports and written instructions.


Sufficient eye and hand coordination to physically work on equipment, vehicles and shop area.


Mental:


Basic math skills


Mechanical understanding


The ability to read, write, spell and communication clearly and effectively in English.


Working Conditions:


Relatively high noise


Potentially dangerous operations and equipment


Adverse weather and cold/heat


REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Shop Manager works along side the


Project Manager


Dispatcher


The following positions are under guidance to the Shop Manager:


Cutter I, II, III


Apprentice, Helper, Laborer


AUTHORITY


The Shop Manager has authority to


Direct crewmembers in the performance of their vehicle and equipment maintenance and repairs


Apply progressive discipline policy to regularly assigned employees and to recommend same for advancement.


Purchase budgeted shop supplies or vehicle/equipment repairs via Purchase Order up to $500.00 without additional approval.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Open the Shop during working hours of Monday through Friday 6:00am - 4:00pm. Also, keep locked areas locked during the day while the shop is open to regulate the coming and going of employees in these locked areas.


Close the Shop after hours (i.e. doors closed and locked, containers closed and locked, alarm set, gate closed).


Maintain shop cleanliness and organization.


Track and perform or direct performance of all vehicle and equipment maintenance.


Track and perform or direct performance of all vehicle and equipment repairs.


Obtain quotes and order any necessary vehicle/equipment repairs or maintenance.


Inventory and ordering of shop supplies as well as control proper use of shop supplies to ensure that these costs are in line with company targets.


Distribute blades, monitor inventory of blades and order blades as necessary.


Review Driver truck inspections of each vehicle in the fleet and address any concerns, or schedule with Dispatch and/or outside vendors the mending of any areas of concern.


Perform Road Tests for new DOT hires.


Perform regular truck inspections of each vehicle in the fleet. Thereafter, direct assigned employee to mend any concerns, or schedule with Dispatch and/or outside vendors the mending of any areas of concern.


Ensure properly trained crews pertaining to equipment and vehicle maintenance, repairs and basic troubleshooting.


Purchase via Purchase Order vehicle and equipment parts, supplies, labor and tools necessary for said position.


Inventory, check out and make available any "special" equipment or tools needed for field operations.


Implement plans for improvement when required.


Perform any other tasks as may be directed by Operations Manager, President, Field Manager, etc. or indicated as necessary by sound business judgment.


MEASUREMENT OF PERFORMANCE


Shop area and supplies are organized and fully stocked.


Attendance is regular and arrive to work on time and ready for work.


Assignments are completed safely. Accidents are avoided and when they do occur are thoroughly documented and reported.


Tools and equipment are fully inventoried.


Maintenance is performed on all vehicles and equipment per specifications.


Repairs on vehicles and equipment or scheduled and performed in a timely fashion.


Paperwork (including time cards and receipts) is delivered to the office on time and is completed accurately so that no rework is required by the Administrative Manager.


Truck Inspections are performed on a regular basis.


Trucks are continuously maintained, clean, organized and properly supplied.


Experience in Computer inventory, excel spreadsheets, industry specific software

Hourly Pay $20.00 - 27.00/hour dependent on experience





Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
